Oersted

Oersted′ərstəd (electromagnetism) The unit of magnetic field strength in the centimeter-gram-second electromagnetic system of units, equal to the field strength at the center of a plane circular coil of one turn and 1-centimeter radius, when there is a current of 1/(2π) abamp in the coil; 1 oersted corresponds to approximately 79.577 amperes. The Science of Hans Christian Oersted. By the year 1800 Oersted was a pharmacy manager. In this year a scientific revolution began. Alessandro Volta announced details of his battery, opening new territory for chemists and physicists: Volta’s battery enabled them to produce a steady flow of electricity for the first time and, happily, the materials needed to build one were easily obtained. In the centimeter-gram-second electromagnetic system of units, the unit of magnetic field strength. In a vacuum, the value of the magnetic intensity in oersteds at a point is equal to the force in dynes exerted on a unit magnetic pole placed at the point. Later the oersted was redefined as the strength of the magnetic field at a distance of 1 centimeter from a straight.

Oersted Experiment

Ørsted Wind Power A/S has an interest in sharing ideas for new technologies and solutions that are developed during the planning and design of offshore wind power plants and their supporting infrastructure. Very often, our engineers and technicians think of new solutions and realise how improved technology or methods can enhance the value of a plant, unlock new applications of it, reduce the cost of a component, the time spent on a certain process, reduce the safety risk in an operation, or the like.
Since Ørsted Wind Power A/S doesn’t design or manufacture all the components of a wind power plant, it's not possible to exploit all these ideas in-house. Instead, the ideas and concepts are published here to show them to all interested companies that might be able to build on Ørsted’s efforts and create more value.
Note that Ørsted Wind Power A/S may decide to file for patent protection on some of its development work – in that case, the respective ideas or concepts aren't published here.
