Cyberpunk 2077 launched last week to mostly positive reviews, but the game is not without its problems. Those who own base PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles especially have experienced serious bugs in Cyberpunk 2077 that impact everything from the visuals to the gameplay, with some even encountering bugs that are game-breaking. CD Projekt Red has acknowledged Cyberpunk 2077's issues on PS4 and Xbox One, offering to refund fans who are disappointed with the game.
CD Projekt Red issued a message on Twitter apologizing for Cyberpunk 2077's issues on PS4 and Xbox One (and in general), prompting a response from billionaire Elon Musk. Musk replied to Cyberpunk 2077's tweet with a screenshot of a Reddit post from a disgruntled fan who was disappointed in the game. The fan said that they 'just feel empty' and have been 'crying' because of how much the game let them down.

Elon Musk reportedly appears in Cyberpunk 2077 in a brief cameo, so it's especially surprising to see him taking shots at the game's troubles. The trolling didn't stop there, though, as he also shared an edited image of Michael Scott from The Office making an obscene gesture, complete with the Cyberpunk 2077 logo and signature neon lights.

While some fans may take this as a sign that Elon Musk does not like Cyberpunk 2077 himself, that may not necessarily be the case. A couple of hours after his trolling tweets, a fan asked Musk if he had the chance to play the game yet himself. Musk confirmed that he had indeed been playing Cyberpunk 2077, though only 'briefly.' Musk apparently chose the Nomad lifepath and determined that the game 'seems pretty good.'

Despite Cyberpunk 2077 having some rather serious technical issues, the game smashed the Steam concurrent player record. Not only that, but Cyberpunk 2077 sales have been incredibly high, topping charts and recouping its development costs pretty much immediately.
Of course, CD Projekt Red issuing refunds for Cyberpunk 2077 may hurt its sales performance somewhat, but it's unlikely to be a significant enough dent to really hurt the game in the long run. While there are fans who are upset about Cyberpunk 2077, there are many others who enjoy the game. Cyberpunk 2077 reviews have been mostly positive, and the game is actually one of the highest-rated video games of the year in terms of critic score.
Cyberpunk 2077's user scores aren't nearly as positive, but as CD Projekt Red issues patches to fix the game's various problems, its reputation will likely improve. With time, Cyberpunk 2077 should be able to squash many of the bugs and other technical issues that are keeping some fans from properly enjoying the open world game.
Cyberpunk 2077 is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions coming at some point in 2021.

Andrzej Zawadzki, Senior Game Designer at CD Projekt Red and the RPG Design Lead on the controversial Cyberpunk 2077, recently announced on Twitter that he was leaving the social media platform for a few days. Zawadzki didn't share the specific reason for his decision to take a break from the service, but his comments suggest that his Twitter hiatus is related to harassment over issues plaguing Cyberpunk 2077. Cyberpunk 2077 was, of course, one of the most anticipated games to come out this year, and it has not lived up to many gamers' expectations, to put it mildly, particularly on the last-gen consoles. With reports of bugs, frame rate and visual issues hampering the game over the weekend, it's likely that Twitter users inundated Zawadski's feed with nasty messages and possibly even threats.
It wouldn't be the first time that Zawadzki has had to deal with 'fans' singling him or his colleagues out and harassing them over something they didn't like about Cyberpunk 2077. In late October, Zawadzki took to Twitter after it was announced that the game was being delayed for a third time, to what ended up being its final release date of December 10.
'I want to address one thing in regards of the @CyberpunkGame delay. I understand you're feeling angry, disappointed and want to voice your opinion about it. However, sending death threats to the developers is absolutely unacceptable and just wrong. We are people, just like you,' Zawadzki wrote on October 28.
Zawadzki went a step further and posted some messages that the developers had received after the game's delay was announced.
This is one of the mildest messages some of us got. There were far, FAR worse. Every single one is being reported. We will not let it go through.

The online vitriol surrounding Cyberpunk 2077 isn't just relegated to the developers, though. GameSpot and its reviewer caught flack for giving the new title a 7-out-of-10 review rating. A writer with GameInformer also received backlash for publishing a piece that said the game could be triggering for people prone to epileptic seizures, and that she suffered at least 'one major seizure' while playing.

Since the game's launch, CD Projekt Red has acknowledged the game's shortcomings—especially on PS4 and Xbox One. The studio recently issued an apology and, while asking for patience for patches to be implemented, told gamers that they can receive refunds from the PlayStation and Microsoft stores.
